There have been concerns that racial gerrymandering to benefit minorities would lead to racial polarization. Using King's EI to examine the level of White support received by Representative Clyburn in South Carolina's sixth district in the 1990's, the author concludes that the polarization concerns over liberal racial gerrymandering are questionable.
